AIKEN, S.C. – Savannah River Site’s (SRS) Tours and Protocol Office is inviting the public to sign up for one of 21 driving tours to view site facilities and operations. SRS also offers several historic tours featuring three tours in March of the Dunbarton area, three tours offered for the Ellenton Town site in October with an additional two in-depth walking tours – one in March and one in October – in the upcoming year.

In 2026, 21 tours were offered to the public with nearly 704 visitors learning about the dedicated, urgent work that punctuates the history of SRS, National Nuclear Security Administration and Department of Energy facilities and their impacts both locally and nationally.

Site visitors will experience firsthand how the Central Savannah River Area was chosen to play a pivotal role in the nation’s national security through the years. Additionally, the historic tours of Dunbarton and Ellenton provide an educational lens on the relocation of residents as the construction of SRS began.

“Our driving tours provide a great opportunity for the public to see how SRS prepares and delivers on our commitments to safety and national security first-hand,” said Bob Bonnett, Tour Program Coordinator. “These tours give just a glimpse of the impactful work Site personnel perform each day.”

If interested in learning about the history of SRS, visit www.srs.gov and click on the “Visitors & Tours” link in the top right corner, to the left of the search bar.

SRS public site tours can accommodate up to 34 people on each bus. Each historic tour has a limit of 32 people. All tours are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants must be 18 years of age or older and U.S. citizens. Participants must also register separately for a tour.
